Stand up paddle surfing and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is an offshoot of surfing that originated in Hawaii. Unlike traditional surfing where the rider sits until a wave comes, stand up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water.  Variations include flat water paddling for outdoor recreation, fitness, or sightseeing, racing on lakes, large rivers and canals, surfing on ocean waves, paddling in river rapids (whitewater SUP), Paddle board yoga and even fishing.

The SHACs Introduction to SUP Sessions will teach you all the basics you need to get started with Stand Up Paddle Boarding. We supply the boards, the best teaching location in the country and some of the best and most experienced BSUPA qualified instructors you will find to make your first SUP experience the best itcan possibly be. We follow this on with access to club events, races, advice, sales and much more all for £25.00 per person.

The SHACs SUP Freeride Sessions: Once a introduction session has been completed you are then qualified to be able to join us on our FreeRide sessions from 6 - 9pm every Thursday. You can come down and hire a board and off you go or bring your own and enjoy some time out on the water with other fellow SUP Lovers. We often have a fire going on the beach and this is a lovely social event. You can even come along and enjoy the sunset at the lagoon with a warm or cold drink whilst simply watching a loved one out on the water. The SHACs SUP River Safaris, taking paddle boarding to the next level.

Once you have started your stand up paddle boarding adventure on a SHACs Introduction to SUP session at the Lagoon or hold a BSUPA ready to ride certificate you can move your SUP Adventures on to the next level and try out one of our SUP River Safaris.

SUP Yoga - Combining the ancient practice of Yoga with Stand Up Paddle Boarding. The SHACs SUP Yoga Classes/Courses take your favorite yoga routines and put them on the water in simply stunning surroundings. Both Yoga and Stand Up Paddle Boarding are great for building better core strength, balance, coordination, and body strength in general so by combining the two disciplines we can achieve simply amazing results. Open Water Wild Swimming at the Lagoon. We are open for open water wild swimming every Tuesday and Friday Evening between 6pm and 8pm and Tuesday and Sunday Mornings from 7 - 9am. If you are a training for a triathlon or Swim Run event then this is the perfect training location as we also have a 3km trail running route around the perimeter of the lake and will be introducing tri and swim run training sessions and events for 2018 soon.  The SHACs SUP and Wild Swimming Lagoon open day is on April 29th 2018 come down and try out new kit from Fanatic SUP and Zone 3 swim and triathlon suits on the day.

We will be running introduction to wild swimming courses in 2018 in partnership with Aqua Safe Surrey. 

Take the opportunity to try stand up paddle boarding and test out our fleet of some of the best boards on the market, we will have different boards available to try from all rounders to race boards from some of the best brands in the business. 

 SUP Skills Introduction, SUP Yoga and SUPfit courses now available SUPBIKERUN Triathlons and training weekends.

During each SUP Skills Introduction session will learn the basics of stand up paddle boarding with our BSUPA qualified coaches whilst being introduced to the fitness benefits and the various exciting disciplines that the sport has to offer. Our SUP adventures and tuition are for individuals and small groups, age 16 and over, if you are under 16 and wish to take part you will need to bring along an adult to join your adventure.

 Our paddleboard sessions are booked by appointment, simply contact us and we will find a date that suits you. On a Sundowner session you will be taught how to paddle board and learn the basic paddle strokes and turning/control techniques over a recommended 2 hour period.

SUP Yoga at Sunset

Every Friday in June with Sasha from Moxie Unleashed at The SHACs SUP Lagoon between Dorking and Reigate.

  De-stress from your working week and kick start the weekend when you join us at the idyllic SHAC SUP Lagoon for SUP Yoga, where we take a traditional yoga class onto the water and the paddle board becomes your new floating yoga mat!

Yoga on water, takes your session to a completely different level, on many levels! Set against the background of chirping frogs and birds and with the swans and their goslings cruising by, feel your heartbeat lower and a smile light up your face, plus by being exposed to the elements and having to adjust to the movement of the board on water, you will maximise your core stability throughout the entire class.

Complete beginners through to experienced SUPers and yogis can take part in this. No special clothing is required, although wetsuits and buoyancy aids are available if you prefer.
